The Green House

This is a picture of what will be my new home. It is known as the Howard House or "the Green House" and is a part of the Walker Center. It is called the Green House because it is an intentional living residence focusing on sustainable living and ecological awareness. For more information you can click on the above links.

Sustainable living and ecological awareness are issues that I have not paid a great deal to. I am aware of the debate regarding climate change and that humans are impacting the environment, but these are things that sit at the periphery of my worldview. Like many people, I go about my daily business with little thought about the ecological impact I am leaving. I recycle some things but I have never consciously paid attention to the amount of waste a create. Last summer I started paying more attention to the amount of energy I use but that was only because my local utility started charging more during peak hours. I am excited about moving into the Green House because it is going to challenge me to be more environmentally aware.

I have created this blog not only as a way for friends and family to follow my journey to seminary, but as a chronicle of my learning to be green.
